La película cuenta sobre el heroico destino de Lyubov Sergeevna Soboleva. Soñaba con el ballet, pero se convirtió en médico de la peste y dedicó toda su vida a la lucha contra esta enfermedad en diferentes países. Una de sus últimas batallas contra la peste tuvo lugar en Mongolia en agosto de 1945. En ese momento, Soboleva era la jefa del destacamento soviético contra la peste en la ciudad de Dzaphin. Pasó nueve días arriesgando su vida sola con una terrible enfermedad, salvando a un pequeño niño mongol...
